The University of Waterloo Black Association for Student Expression (UW BASE) is an organization committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive community for students. Their mission is to provide peer mentorship and community-building initiatives, celebrate diversity, and create spaces where students can express themselves freely and develop a strong sense of identity within the university.
UW BASE hosts a variety of impactful events blending education and social engagement to enrich the student experience.
What role did I play?
For 2 years, I contributed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for students through marketing initiatives and event planning:
Designed digital and print marketing materials, including posters, banners, and social media graphics, to enhance event visibility and engagement.
Designed and created the slide show presentations for our community events.
Organized and facilitated weekly study sessions to support academic success and community building.
Planned and executed annual events such as the A.C.E with BASE networking event and Grill and Chill, fostering connections among students and professionals.
Coordinated logistics for community-building activities and ensured seamless event execution.
Helped strengthen UW BASE’s presence on campus and foster a sense of connection among students.
